(CNN) -- A magnitude 6.0 earthquake rattled the coast of southern Sumatra in Indonesia on Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the strong quake was about 80 miles west of Bengkulu and took place about seven miles underground, the USGS said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
