(CNN) -- A coalition service member was killed Friday when a vehicle struck a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S.-led coalition said.
The incident occurred in Tag Ab Valley in Kapisa province, it said.
The coalition also reported on Friday that troops targeting Taliban militants in southern Afghanistan killed more than a dozen insurgents Thursday in the Garmsir district of the province -- a major hotspot in the Afghan war.
Troops recovered insurgent machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades, mortars, ammunition and AK-47s, the coalition said.
