LONDON, England (CNN) -- This month we examine the ethics of travel and charity. Business travelers cross continents and see cities more than most; their stays may be brief, but the business traveler still gets a sense of the core culture of the countries they visit.
Richard Quest takes a look at the range of opportunities for donation available to business travelers, whilst also investigating how the money has been spent and measuring how the quality of lives has been improved.
British Airways' charity, 'Change for Good', has to date raised $50 million through collecting passengers' loose change in the form of foreign currency, which has been invested in UNICEF projects in Tanzania, helping less fortunate children. Quest visits the projects with BA CEO Willie Walsh, and discovers how the money has made a huge difference.
The way in which travelers can have a positive impact during their trips by embracing and respecting the local economy, culture and environment -- before even getting on the plane -- is also examined in the program.
Tricia Barnett from Tourism Concern reveals her essential tips to Quest which include taking time to read up on the places passengers are headed to, and perhaps learning a few words in the local language!
