What to do if your flight is canceled

(CNN) -- American Airlines canceled more than 2,500 flights in the past three days because of inspections. Over the past three weeks, U.S. carriers overall have shut down about 3,700 flights, leaving travelers stranded and struggling to find ways to get home.

How do I know if my flight is canceled?
Passengers flying with American Airlines can check the status of their flight online. You will need to either enter your departing and arriving airport locations or your flight number. American Airlines: Check flight status

Is there any way I can find out how delayed my airport is?

How can I rebook my flight?
Passengers should either call American Airlines or speak to a gate agent for rebooking.

Can I contact other airlines to be rebooked?
Not without being charged full price. All rebooking must be done through American Airlines. You may purchase new tickets through other airlines if there are open seats but they will be at regular full price.

What information do I need to rebook my flight?
You should only need your record locater ID to be able to rebook a flight through American Airlines.

What if I cancel my trip without rebooking?
