(CNN) -- England have recalled pacemen Steve Harmison and Stuart Broad for the fourth and final Test against South Africa at The Oval which starts on Thursday.

Harmison has finally won a recall to the England team for the final Test.

Harmison gets his chance after being called up to the squad for the third Test, but left out of the starting XI.

Broad comes back after being rested for the five-wicket defeat at Edgbaston which gave South African an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the series.

The Edgbaston match marked Michael Vaughan's final game in charge of the England Test team to be replaced as captain by Kevin Pietersen.

Ravi Bopara was called up to the fold in place of Vaughan, but along with paceman Ryan Sidebottom misses out on selection from the original 13-man squad.

The inclusion of both Harmison and Broad means England will go into the Test with four fast bowlers and spinner Monty Panesar.

"I think it is an aggressive move, a positive move," Pietersen told the Press Association.

"We need to take 20 wickets in this Test - you need to take 20 in any Test - and I feel a lot more comfortable with four fast bowlers.

"We've given responsibility to the batters to score runs with Colly (Paul Collingwood) at five, Freddie (Andrew Flintoff) at six, Timmy (Ambrose) seven and Broad eight."

Pietersen was also keen to include Harmison, who along with Matthew Hoggard was discarded after a disappointing defeat to New Zealand on England's winter tour.

"I like Steve and what he brings to the team. He's had his ups and downs but I have a really good relationship with Steve," Pietersen added.

"He seems as excited as anything and he had a bit of a bounce in his step."

England are looking for a face-saving victory after defeats at Headingley and Edgbaston to Graeme Smith's improving team.

Pietersen has also been appointed as England's captain for the one-day series which follows.
