Lee swoops to send West Indies crashing

(CNN) -- Brett Lee snapped up five wickets for five runs in a devastating 18-ball spell to earn Australia a first innings lead of 127 against West Indies in the second Test at St Johns, Antigua.

The tourists stretched their advantage by a further 244 for the loss of six wickets by the close.

Lee's five for 59 off 21 overs was his ninth five-wicket haul in a Test innings and sent West Indies tumbling from an imposing 314 for four to a disappointing 352 all out in reply to Australia's 479 for seven declared.

The home side lost their last six wickets in a spell of 68 balls, which took the gloss off Shivnarine Chanderpaul's unbeaten 107, his 19th Test century and second in successive matches.

Chanderpaul moved into three figures by sweeping Andrew Symonds for the 11th of 12 boundaries from 236 balls in almost six hours at the crease.

Chanderpaul and Dwayne Bravo put on 132 for the fifth wicket before Lee struck.

The paceman had Bravo caught down the leg-side for 45, although television replays suggested that umpire Russell Tiffin may have erred, the ball appearing to have ricocheted from the batsman's thigh pad.

Next delivery Lee had Denesh Ramdin adjudged lbw to a delivery which moved back from outside the off-stump. West Indies might have felt aggrieved with Tiffin's verdict again after examining the TV replays.

In Lee's next over Tiffin again raised the finger for lbw to despatch Darren Sammy for a second-ball duck.

Taylor hit two fours and a six from 26 balls, before he was bowled by Lee, who had Daren Powell undeniably lbw for a two-ball duck.

Mitchell Johnson had Edwards caught behind to end the innings.

Australian openers Mike Hussey and Phil Jaques increased the lead to 74 before Hussey was caught behind for 40 off Dwayne Bravo.

Hussey opened because Simon Katich was forced to seek medical treatment after bruising a rib when he scored 113 in the first innings.

Jaques added 89 for the second wicket with Australia captain Ricky Ponting before they were both dismissed within 13 balls.

Michael Clarke was run out for 10, Brad Haddin lbw to Fidel Edwards for seven, and Lee caught behind off Edwards for four.

Australia, who lead the three-Test series 1-0, after their 95-run victory in Jamaica, have won 13 of the last 14 Tests against West Indies.
