New Kudrow character has no patience for patients

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Lisa Kudrow co-starred in one of TV's most successful sitcoms, "Friends," and she found success in movies, especially with "Analyze This." But her latest comedic project isn't for the big or small screen.

It's for the computer screen.

The actress plays Fiona Wallice, a therapist of dubious credentials, on "Web Therapy," a new broadband series available at www.lstudio.com.

Wallice is a therapist with a gimmick -- she dispenses advice to her clients over the Internet in three-minute increments. This may not suit her patients' needs, but then again she's not that interested in her patients.

"She's mostly, I guess, impatient," Kudrow told CNN in an interview. "She did the 50-minute sessions and she would say like, 'Neither the client nor myself were getting anything out of it really. ... It was a waste of time because the bulk of the work is accomplished in only three minutes, so let's cut to the chase.' "

Kudrow said she's had therapy herself and found it much more helpful than the kind Wallice provides.

Fiona Wallice's approach is "just [the] complete opposite of what therapy's supposed to be -- a safe place where you can indulge in your feelings and your dreams," Kudrow said. "That's all too boring for her so she really doesn't want to hear."

"Web Therapy" includes guest performances by improvisational standouts Bob Balaban, Jane Lynch and Rashida Jones, and episodes have been directed by Don Roos, who directed the Kudrow film "The Opposite of Sex."
