JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Militants in Gaza released Jaime Razuri, a 50-year-old photographer for Agence France-Presse, a reporter for the wire service told CNN.

Razuri was kidnapped New Year's Day by unidentified gunmen outside his employer's office in Gaza City.

There have been previous kidnappings of journalists in the region.

In October, an AP photographer was abducted by Palestinian gunmen and then freed later that same day.

In August, two Fox journalists were kidnapped and held for two weeks before being released.
