ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- A suicide bomber's attack on a bus near Rawalpindi early Monday wounded the bus driver and five children, a Pakistani military spokesman said.
According to Lt. Col. Attique ur Rehman, the bombing took place around 7:30 a.m. (0230 GMT) in Attock, along the road between Rawalpindi and Peshawar in northeastern Pakistan.
The bomber died in the attack.
On Sunday, a suicide car bomb attack in Swat Valley killed seven people and wounded two others when the bomber drove a vehicle into a police checkpoint.
On November 24, two suicide bombings targeting security forces in Rawalpindi killed at least 16 Defense Ministry workers, according to a military spokesman said.
One of the bombs targeted a bus with more than 30 civilian employees of the Defense Ministry onboard, Lt. Col. Baseer Haider Malik said.
The bus was on its way into a Defense Ministry complex when a car loaded with explosives rammed it from the rear and detonated, he said.

The Swat Valley, a former tourists destination about 100 miles (160 kilometers) from Islamabad, has been a particularly violent area of Pakistan and a hotbed for Islamic militants.
On Saturday, the army said it had retaken towns seized by militants over summer, killing 290 of them and capturing 140, according to The Associated Press. E-mail to a friend ![]()
