(CNN) -- Here are some facts from tonight's broadcast that you might find interesting.

Los Angeles has received four inches of rain since July 2006. This has been the city's driest year since the 1850s.

China is the world's 4th largest economy, and it has the world's 3rd largest defense budget (It's the world's fastest-growing peace time defense budget).

This year, China announced a decision to increase its defense budget by 18%. China will have increased its defense budget by double-digit figures, meaning 10% or more for more than a decade.

China posted a trade surplus of $85.72 billion (USD) for the first five months of the year -- that's up about 80 %.
