(CNN) -- Reality TV star and former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith died Thursday after being found unconscious in her hotel room. CNN.com asked readers to send their thoughts and memories of the woman who spent much of her life at the center of tabloid attention:

Nata Wade of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
I think the death of her son was really hard for her to deal with and a lot of people mistreated her and were not trying to help her. She was a good person and I am sorry for her family's loss. Please keep us updated on her beautiful daughter.

Paris Penzin of Seffner, Florida
I will remember a grieving mother not allowed to grieve in peace. I am not a fan of any of her stuff or who she was as a celebrity. I am a mom of a teenager and felt for her loss. I was irritated and angry with the media in not leaving her alone in the past 5 months. I will remember a little girl never knowing her mother or brother. Let's hope there are people that will tell the little girl about the REAL mom behind the crap we saw on TV and in magazines. The sad thing is if the media puts out a decent story on her they are hypocrites. She was grand fodder for everyone. Remember she is someone's daughter, sister, niece, mother. Try to be respectful. She died of a broken heart.

Cheryl Braun of Omaha, Nebraska
Although she had an unusual life to many of us, I still saw a mother who loved her son and lost him. I am not sure how I could have handled that, much less in the spotlight like she had to. No matter what they find out about her untimely death, I will still believe she died in part of a broken heart. May her and her son who she is now with again be in peace!!

Donneshia Anderson of Richmond, California
My goodness...... My heart goes out to her and her children. This is a deep hurt. Anna has been through a lot and the media did not make it any better. Watching her hurt was much to much. I pray that she has made peace with God. Bless her soul and Daniel's.

Dave Patek of St. Louis, Missouri
I remember thinking how gorgeous Anna was when she first appeared in Playboy. She was a throwback to the days when "curvy" was in. I remember thinking just a few days ago "what the heck happened"? Obviously a very sad individual.

Lisa Marus of Chicago, Illinois
I haven't agreed with the way she has lived her life for the past years but is very unfortunate that her life had to end this early. Her baby now has no mother. I truly believe she wanted to be with her son Daniel. It is also very ironic that she died before she was 40 just like her icon, Marilyn Monroe. God Bless her and may she be in a better place now.

Sharron Nearing of Oshawa, Ontario
Wow this is a huge shocker for me...I'm numb...I loved Anna as a person..a fighter..a mother...a partyer...a person with problems...a real tragedy...I'm sick at the news...I feel she was a good person..with huge problems..like a lot of us..and sometimes life is overwhelming...but to the family...daughter...so very young...I am so so sorry for what has happened...I never once said she was a horrible or bad person..nor a drunk or a druggie..I always watched everything I managed to catch on TV or news...Anna Nicole Smith..let you rest in peace...as the world was not allowing you that...I'm so sorry to hear this news...it will indeed shatter the family and the world...to her daughter...no matter what..I know you are loved and will always be...

Daniel Casillas of San Antonio, Texas
What a tragic end to such a colorful person. My heart goes out to her infant daughter who will no doubt be the center of a long and bitter battle. May Anna Nicole find the peace in death that so evaded her in life. I have no doubt that she will become as iconic as Marilyn Monroe.

Michelle Marks of Houston, Texas
My girlfriend happened to be in the restroom at the Houston courthouse during the time she was fighting for her ex-husband's money with her stepson. My friend said someone came to her in the restroom and asked her to zip her up, she said, "oh my god it's Anna Nicole Smith." I asked my friend if she was nice, she said she was very sweet. She said it was pretty hard zipping her up because that's when she had the weight on her.

Joe Chacon of Hawthorne, California
Now the gossip writers are showing their sympathy that they've lost somebody like Anna. Well, it's a little too late to start writing positive things about her, isn't it? Wouldn't it have been great for Anna to see that people cared about her while she was living?

Angie Zaborowski of San Marcos, Texas
I remember a very sweet Anna Nicole! ... I've always been disturbed by the way Anna Nicole was handled by the media. Although she didn't always make the best choices -- she was an individual with the same feelings we all have, and I thought the media was too unforgiving of her mistakes and a bit harsh of the personal choices she made....

Sam Sarullo of Park Ridge, Illinois
After all the chaos, lawsuits, and drama, I'll always remember Anna Nicole as that gorgeous model from the Guess Jeans ads.

What will you remember about Anna Nicole Smith? Send your thoughts.

Ross Mar met Anna Nicole Smith at a bar in Los Angeles in 2005. No matter what, he said, "she somehow always found a way to make us laugh."
