This month, CNN Business Traveller is all about Open Skies - the most dramatic change in aviation in decades. In March 2008, the Open Skies agreement will give American and European Union carriers the freedom to fly from any city in the U.S. to any EU city and vice versa.

Battle for the Skies

Rules governing transatlantic air travel will increase routes and competition

Richard Quest goes to the European Commission in Brussels to get an insider's view of the negotiation process between the two sides, which have battled it out for five years. He talks to the European Union's chief negotiator, Daniel Calleja.

Winners and Losers

London Heathrow is the backbone of transatlantic travel. For more than forty years, the runways have only been open to four airlines - two from Britain and two from the U.S. The new agreement will be a hard pill to swallow for these dominant carriers. There could be another problem: Heathrow is bursting at the seams and some carriers could be left out in the cold. Virgin's Sir Richard Branson and BMI's Sir Michael Bishop share their views.
