LONDON, England (CNN) -- Ever felt like you were being watched? With the rise in the number of surveillance cameras on our streets and in our offices, more often than not you are.

But rather than just watching you, the next generation of surveillance cameras will be able to tell if you're up to no good and, developers hope, spot crimes and misdemeanors before they happen. (Full story)

"Are computer programs better suited to monitoring our behavior through security cameras than humans?"

One of the main reasons I am considering not going back home to the UK is because of the overabundance of cameras. Being watched all the time does not make me feel safe. The 'big brother' vibe I get from the UK is creepy. I'd much rather run the risk of being robbed than be watched 24/7.

The last line of this article is very scary, ""I wouldn't want someone watching me through a video camera 24 hours a day, but I might feel OK if a computer or robot was doing it. Given the choice what would you rather?" I don't want either. We are living in a society that wants to make everything safe. In doing so our freedom is being eroded. If the world was 100% safe, it would being a boring place that I would not want to live in. Big Brother might have been a little bit late in showing up, but he's definitely with us today.
