LONDON, England (CNN) -- It may sounds like something from a J.G. Ballard novel, but a new breed of lifestyle drugs could allow us to choose how much we sleep, boost our memories and even allow us to enjoy ourselves more, without any side effects. Will they unleash human capabilities never seen before or create a dystopian 24-hour society where we are dependent on drugs to regulate our lifestyle and behavior? (Full story) What do you think are the limits of taking personal performance enhancing drugs? The problem with personal enhancement drugs is for the most part they only work effectively in short bursts when it comes to alertness and energy. There are several on the market now with the ability to keep anyone up for hours and days on end. However, the problems that exist and will always most likely exist are individuals fighting everyday and worldly problems the same time they are fighting their own fatigue. When it comes to emergency and non emergency situations this will always prove as a bad combination not only for themselves but others also. So the limits to personal enhancement should always be set to not include anything that will disrupt the natural ability for the human body and mind to properly rest. Your comments |
