MUNICH, Germany -- Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose scored a hat-trick as the Bundesliga leaders hammered Cottbus 5-0 to move into a three-point lead at the top of the table.
Klose broke Cottbus's resistance with the first goal after an hour.
Klose, top World Cup marksman last year, scored after 60, 75 and 89 minutes as Bayern finished the game strongly after the visitors had held out for an hour.
After Klose had broken the deadlock Argentinian defender Martin Demichelis headed Bayern's second three minutes later.
Italian World Cup winner Luca Toni then grabbed his his fifth goal of the season in the 69th minute.
Bayern's summer signings Klose and Toni have now scored 13 league goals in seven games repaying a generous slice of the 23 million euros splashed out by Bayern.
Bayer Leverkusen went second by winning 2-1 at Nuremberg, taking the lead when German striker Stefan Kiessling fired home in the 40th minute.
