BREMEN, Germany -- Werder Bremen's Tim Borowski has become the latest Germany midfielder set to miss the friendly against England later this month after he picked up a knee injury, it was announced on Sunday.

Borowski was injured in Saturday's Bundesliga game against Bochum.
The 27-year-old was injured in Bremen's 2-2 draw with VfL Bochum on Saturday in the opening game of the Bundesliga season and is expected to miss Germany's friendly at Wembley on August 22.
The 29-time capped Borowski is the third German midfielder to be injured, with team-mate Torsten Frings injuring knee ligaments in pre-season and Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack recovering from an ankle operation.
Borowski's injury blow means Bremen are also struggling in midfield with Frings out for several weeks after being injured in a pre-season game last month and not expected back until September.
"I fell heavily on the left knee while challenging for the ball. I finished the game, but I quickly noticed certain movements caused me pain," Borowski said.
"We think he'll be out for two to three weeks," said Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf.
Germany's coach Joachim Loew still has several midfielders options with Bayern Munich's Bastian Schweinsteiger, Bayer Leverkusen's Bernd Schneider and VfB Stuttgart's Thomas Hitzlsperger who were all in good form at the weekend. E-mail to a friend ![]()
