LONDON, England -- Dutch international defender Khalid Boulahrouz has been loaned out for a year by Chelsea to Spanish side Sevilla.

Boulahrouz is presented with a Sevilla jersey after completing his loan move from Chelsea.
Boulahrouz fell out of favor at the deposed Premier League champions as his form suffered a mid-season slump following a $14 million move from Hamburg last summer.
The 25-year-old is now looking to resurrect his career at the two-time UEFA Cup champions.
"I like to give everything I have on the field," he said on Sevilla's official Web site.
"Over the last six months, I did not play enough -- I want to recover here, to give everything for Sevilla."
Boulahrouz was expected to provide cover across the defense but Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho often turned to midfielders instead as their title challenge faded last season.
"Chelsea and Sevilla have reached an agreement for the one-year loan," read a statement from the Premier League club.
Mourinho has brought in Israeli international Tal Ben Haim from Bolton as cover in defense this season, and Alex could arrive from PSV Eindhoven to add further depth.
Glen Johnson is also returning from a loan at Portsmouth to provide an option at right-back. E-mail to a friend ![]()
