LONDON, England -- Sevilla's reward for their last-gasp escape act against Shakhtar Donetsk is a UEFA Cup quarterfinal draw with Premier League Tottenham Hotspur.

The holders produced a remarkable turn around to beat the Ukrainians as goalkeeper Andres Palop scored an injury time equalizer to force extra time on Thursday night.

Uruguay's Javier Chevanton added the winner in extra time as Sevilla went through 5-4 on aggregate.

Two-time UEFA Cup winners Tottenham underlined their challenge for European honors again with an impressive win over Portuguese side Braga the previous night.

Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido said: "We want to retain the trophy, but we are currently joint top of La Liga and for us La Liga is the most important trophy we could win this season.

"There were two tough nuts to crack in the draw, Werder Bremen and Tottenham -- we didn't want to draw either of them, but at this stage of the competition you have to be prepared for anyone."

Tottenham sporting director Daniel Comolli also recognized the quality of the opposition.

"It's a tough draw, but we wanted to be at home in the second leg and that's what we got. I think it is going to be a spectacular tie between two attacking teams with great forwards. We are looking forward to it."

Martin Jol's side are the only British club left in the competition after Newcastle were knocked out by AZ Akmaar on Thursday.

Louis Van Gaal's team have been given a quarterfinal tie against Werder Bremen.

Werder's Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen, winners in 1988, face Spanish side Osasuna who put out Glasgow Rangers of Scotland to reach the quarterfinals of a European competition for the first time.

The final last eight pairing pits another Spanish side, Espanyol, against Benfica of Portugal.

The first legs will be played on April 5 with the return legs the following Thursday.

The winner of the tie between Sevilla and Spurs will face either Bayer Leverkusen or Osasuna in the first semifinal with the second semifinal contested by Espanyol or Benfica against AZ Akmaar or Werder Bremen.

The draw was made in Glasgow where the final will be staged at Hampden Park on May 16.
