Voigt wraps up Tour of Germany win

HANOVER, Germany -- Jens Voigt wrapped up his second successive victory in his home Tour of Germany as compatriot Gerald Ciolek picked up his third win of the 2007 edition in a sprint finish in Hanover.

The 35-year-old Voigt, who races for CSC, held the yellow jersey all week while T-Mobile's Ciolek emerged as the quickest in a bunch sprint yet again, holding off Milram's Erik Zabel, who had pushed him close on Thursday.

Voigt had all but sealed overall victory after his stunning win in Friday's time trial in Fuerth and he maintained his one minute 57 second advantage over American Levi Leipheimer as both finished in the main bunch on Saturday.

Third overall was Spaniard David Lopez Garcia, who finished two minutes 10 seconds behind the winner Voigt.

"I enjoyed a pretty quiet day today, I was able to appreciate the stage, but the team really worked to control the stage," said Voigt.

"Each victory is wonderful, but it is great to win in Germany again," he said.

"It was more difficult this time than in 2006, I wasn't so strong and felt under pressure at times."

The 20-year-old sprinter Ciolek showed his prowess again as the world road under-23 champion proved too strong from fellow German Zabel and Australian Mark Renshaw on the 143.1 kilometer ninth stage into Hanover. E-mail to a friend
