(CNN) -- Leonardo DiCaprio doubled up at the 13th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations Thursday, with nods for best actor and best supporting actor. "Babel," "Dreamgirls" and "Little Miss Sunshine" all picked up three nominations apiece. DiCaprio, who also earned two Golden Globe nominations in December, was nominated for best actor for his performance in "Blood Diamond" and best supporting actor for "The Departed." "Babel," "Dreamgirls" and "Little Miss Sunshine" were nominated for best performance by a cast in a motion picture -- the SAG Awards equivalent of a "best picture" nomination at the Academy Awards. "Bobby" and "The Departed" were also nominated in the category. "Babel," which earned seven Golden Globe nominations in December, picked up nominations for supporting actresses Adriana Barraza and Rinko Kikuchi. "Dreamgirls" received nods for supporting actor Eddie Murphy and supporting actress Jennifer Hudson. "Sunshine's" Alan Arkin was nominated for best supporting actor, and the film's 10-year-old star, Abigail Breslin, was nominated for best supporting actress. Besides DiCaprio, the best actor nominees are Ryan Gosling ("Half Nelson"), Peter O'Toole ("Venus"), Will Smith ("The Pursuit of Happyness") and Forest Whitaker ("The Last King of Scotland"). Best actress nominees are Penelope Cruz ("Volver"), Judi Dench ("Notes on a Scandal"), Helen Mirren ("The Queen"), Meryl Streep ("The Devil Wears Prada") and Kate Winslet ("Little Children"). In the supporting actor category, DiCaprio's "Blood Diamond" co-star Djimon Hounsou picked up a nomination, as did Jackie Earle Haley ("Little Children"). Cate Blanchett ("Notes on a Scandal") joined Barraza, Kikuchi, Hudson and Breslin in the supporting actress category. (Full list) The SAG Awards also present honors for television, where "Desperate Housewives" earned several nominations along with "The Office," "24" and "The Sopranos." The latter series earned nominations for best drama ensemble and for performances by James Gandolfini and Edie Falco. The Producers Guild of America also announced its nominations for best picture Wednesday. The nominees are "Babel," "Dreamgirls," "The Departed," "Little Miss Sunshine" and "The Queen." The SAG Awards are considered an Oscar indicator, since actors make up the largest bloc of Academy Award voters. Last year, SAG Award winners Philip Seymour Hoffman, Reese Witherspoon and Rachel Weisz all went on to win Oscars. SAG's film and TV nominees were chosen by two groups of 2,100 people randomly chosen from the guild's 120,000 members. The guild's full membership is eligible to vote for winners. The SAG Awards will air on both TNT and TBS on January 28. Both TNT and TBS are units of Time Warner, as is CNN. ![]() Leonardo DiCaprio right, (pictured with Jack Nicholson) was nominated for "The Departed" and "Blood Diamond." |
