GAZA CITY (CNN) -- Two journalists -- one a Fox News employee and the other a freelance cameraman hired by Fox -- were taken against their will Monday in Gaza, according to Fox News' Jerusalem bureau.

Negotiations are ongoing to secure their release, a Fox News reporter stated on air.

The Committee to Protect Journalists issued a statement calling for their release.

"We are gravely concerned about our colleagues' safety and call for their immediate and unconditional release," said CPJ Executive Director Joel Simon.

"These are well established journalists who are not participants in the conflict. They should be treated accordingly and freed."
