U.S. military: Six insurgents killed in Iraq

RELATED

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Six insurgents died in fighting over the last two days in Iraq, the U.S. military said Tuesday.

The military said Iraqi soldiers on Tuesday killed two "terrorists" and detained four others on suspicion of "murder, kidnapping and selling drugs" in a village in the southern province of Qadisiya.

One of the U.S.-led multinational troops providing support was wounded. His nationality was not immediately known.

Another two insurgents died Monday night when a bomb prematurely detonated, according to the military.

In two separate incidents in Salaheddin province north of Baghdad, soldiers shot dead two men who fired at their patrol. One killing happened near Samarra, the other near Balad.

In the Balad incident, soldiers on a joint U.S.-Iraqi patrol searched a building where the gunman had been and seized bombmaking materials.

Five weapons caches also were discovered Monday, according to the Task Force Band of Brothers, the U.S. military command in northern Iraq.
