Fashion and fillies in the blood
![]() Polo playing Jack has invested in sister Jemma's make-up business. YOUR E-MAIL ALERTS(CNN) -- Jack Kidd is one of England's top polo players. The eldest Kidd sibling has been playing the sport since his early teens, a tradition started by his father. Younger sisters Jodie and Jemma also inherited the equestrian gene. At age 14, middle sister Jemma was on Great Britain's under-21 dressage team before trading in her riding boots for the world of fashion -- a switch she says came naturally. "I think because we'd grown up in fashion -- my mother's a model and my sister was a model and my sister-in-law was a model -- I sort of worked around the fashion world," Jemma told CNN. Disliking the fuss of a model's life, she took an interest in what goes on behind the scenes, enrolling in a make-up course where she found her true calling. "I was still doing bits of modeling while I was doing make-up, and people didn't take me that seriously, so about three or four years in as a make-up artist, I said, 'Right, that's it. No more. No more modeling.'" The hard work paid off and Jemma is now a successful make-up artist. She opened the Jemma Kidd Make-Up School in 2002 and also has her own make-up line. "Education is where it all started. It's something that's lacking because women aren't educated in make-up," she said. "But being taught how to wear it can really help with confidence, not only making your face looking great, but it also helps women's confidence." Industry accolades have followed, with her lip-gloss winning a top award from beauty magazine, Cosmopolitan. With the make-up line now available in six countries, Jemma's business is a family affair. Brother Jack is an investor and younger sister Jodie is the face of the brand "Now we're all married, and we've all got our own lives -- Jack does polo, I do make-up, Jodie does modeling and TV -- we all do separate things, so we all really help each other." Jodie calls on her sister to help with make-up on modeling shoots. Their latest venture recently took them to Valencia, Spain, home of the 32nd America's Cup, and on board race challenger Shosholoza where supermodel Jodie did a photo shoot for Louis Vuitton, a sponsor of the 2007 America's Cup. The three siblings remain intertwined despite their distinct careers, but whether in business or pleasure, family, say Jack, Jemma and Jodie, will always tie them together.
