LONDON, England (CNN) -- Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty, best known for his on-off relationship with supermodel Kate Moss, has been charged with possession of cocaine and heroin, police said. The 26-year-old frontman is due to appear at Ealing Magistrates Court in west London on Wednesday, a Scotland Yard spokeswoman told CNN. Doherty, who shot to fame as lead singer of The Libertines, was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs on November 30 last year, she said. He was formally charged on Monday under the 1971 Misuse of Drugs Act for possession of the Class A drugs. Media reports say Doherty and Moss have split up.
