(CNN) -- An Afghan civilian was killed and another person was wounded Saturday when a roadside bomb exploded, according to police in Nangarhar province.

The explosion occurred about 7:30 a.m. in Jalabad city in eastern Afghanistan.

Investigators at first thought the incident was a suicide bombing, but later determined it to be a roadside bomb, said Abdul Basir Salangi, police chief of Nangarhar province. Police were blaming Taliban operatives for the attack.
