CHILLUM, Maryland (CNN) -- Four of six hostages from a foiled robbery were safe and one suspect was in custody Wednesday night, but a second suspect still held two people -- including a 7-year-old girl -- in a carryout restaurant in Chillum, police said.

The husband and wife owners of the Caribbean Delight restaurant and one of their children -- an 11-year-old boy -- escaped along with a customer who was inside when the robbery took place.

Prince George's County Police Maj. Kevin Davis said the remaining suspect had no demands, and police were trying to negotiate the safe release of the girl and a second customer.

The incident began when two patrol officers interrupted a robbery in progress and managed to arrest one of the suspects outside the restaurant. The second suspect, however, was inside.

The male owner of the restaurant was taken to a hospital for treatment of head injuries, Davis said, adding that he did not know if the injuries were suffered when the man jumped out a second-story window or if the suspect had assaulted him.

Davis said both suspects were wearing full body armor.

Chillum is about 30 miles southwest of Baltimore in Prince George's County.
