(CNN) -- We asked, and you answered. In the QuickVotes that appear every day on the front page of the Exchange, you not only voted - you left us comments responding to the issues of the day. Here is a selection of your responses, some of which have been edited:

We asked:

I understand using judgment when making decisions, but terrorism can happen in your own backyard. While it displays itself in everyday tragedies, the root of its existence begins in the mind. In other words, terrorism can spill its ugly guts anywhere and anytime. Enjoy life today.
Alvin, Detroit, Michigan

The terrorists have won haven't they? Look at us, our whole lifestyle disrupted. You don't need to kill anyone, just the threat and the world goes into fear.
Ray, Koh Samui, Thailand

We asked:

"Would you take your family to an Army-themed park?"

You voted, as of 8/11/06:

29% yes

71% no

You said:

An Army themed park? Instead of bumper cars, bumper tanks? Will they show the stress, the fear and the loneliness of being separated from your family for a long period of time?
Bruce, Columbus, Ohio

Why not have an Army themed park? We should be proud of them and show it off.
Kathi, Columbus, Georgia

We already have army-themed parks. They're called National Battle Fields. Every American family should visit a couple at least. Teach children our history, and about the horror of war on our soil.
Cynthia, Corrales, New Mexico

"Hey Kids! See how fun the Army can be? Lets get you signed up so you can get shipped over to Iraq and play 'dodge the bullets' for real!" C'mon. Are they hurting that bad for recruits they need to use an amusement park for propaganda?
Kevin, Orlando, Florida

We asked:

"How high do gas prices have to climb before you change your driving habits?"

You voted as of 8/11/06:

64% They're high enough now

10% $4 a gallon

13% $5 a gallon

14% I'll never change them

You said:

In 1977 I bought a brand new Corvette, 350, 4-barrel carb, 4-speed manual, Black on black in black. I thought only at $3.00 a gal would I even consider changing my aggressive driving habits. Now I am driving a 1994 Nissan 240 SX-SE and am still an aggressive driver. When the gas price gets to more than $5.00 a gal, I will slow down or get a motorcycle.
Earl, Charleston, South Carolina

If things don't soon turn around we will all be driving Hoover Carts.
Charles, Elizabeth City, North Carolina

We asked:

"Do you think Mel Gibson's 'despicable' comments will have a negative effect on his career?"

You voted: as of 8/11/06

49% yes

51% no

Why should we pay a person whose views we detest? Vote with your money for what you believe.
Lisa, California

I've always believed that an alcoholic speaks the truth that he would never reveal when sober. I haven't wanted to see any of his movies since "The Passion" which screamed anti-Semitism. Yes, it most certainly will destroy his career.
Renee, Clearwater, Florida

This man is an alcoholic. We as Christians forgive our family when they speak out of turn while under the influence. I gather because he has risen so far up that we are not supposed to forgive him?
Marilyn, Saskatoon, Canada
