Police shoot man holding child at knifepoint

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (CNN) -- Las Vegas police said officers shot a man holding a child at knifepoint Tuesday inside the city's McCarran International Airport.

The man, who has not been identified, was shot twice, police said. He was taken to a hospital and his condition has not been released.

The incident took place inside a Brookstone store within the secured portion of the terminal, police said.

Officers responded to a call about a man holding a child hostage, police said.

They hit the man with a taser and he released the child. But afterward he charged the officers and they shot him.

CNN's Dan Simon contributed to this story.
