Security surprised by skullduggery in a suitcaseOfficials wonder if skull found in woman's airplane luggage is human
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSFORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (CNN) -- "The spirits gave it to me," a Haitian woman told a Homeland Security officer about what appeared to be a human skull in her suitcase. The woman arrived at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Thursday night after flying from Cap Haitien, Haiti, aboard Lynx Air. Authorities are unsure what laws, if any, have been broken -- but are curious about where the skull came from, how the woman acquired it and what she intends to do with it. The Broward County medical examiner's office has taken custody of the skull and will be doing forensic testing to determine whether it's human. A. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent noticed the object during normal processing, a spokesman Zach Mann said. "This is one of the more bizarre discoveries that we've made in a long time, and we've seen a lot," he said. The woman was taken into custody and is being questioned. No information about her identity is being released at this time, Mann said.
