The Scene talks to French actor Vincent Cassel about life on the mean streets of Paris.

The Scene: Where do you go to chill out?

Vincent Cassel: I like to hang around the area where I live, the 20th and 18th arrondissements. Around areas like Belleville and Barbesse -- places where you can walk around and feel like you're in Brazil or North Africa.

TS: What's the best thing about Paris?

VC: When you want to go out -- it's a great place. You can go to all sorts of clubs, from African clubs to Brazilian clubs. You can really change the mood as you want. That -- and the food.

TS: What do you miss when you are away?

VC: The mix of different cultures. We have 177 different communities living together in one big neighborhood. That makes for lots of different flavors to the city. And lots of different food.

TS: What's the worst thing about Paris?

VC: It can be a pretty aggressive city I guess.

TS: Where do you go for inspiration?

VC: The best thing, the way I feel free, is to jump on my scooter and just ride around the city. And I know that if I go riding through the city I'll meet someone I know.
