FRANKFURT, Germany -- Uncapped goalkeeper Robert Enke has earned a recall to the German national squad after a seven-year absence, team manager Oliver Bierhoff said on Thursday.

Hanover's Enke will be named as the third keeper in coach Joachim Low's squad to be released on Friday, alongside first choice Jens Lehmann and deputy Timo Hildebrand.

"I do not think I need to say that I am delighted about the call-up," Enke said. "Now I have to try and keep the faith of the coaching staff."

The 29-year-old Enke, who once played for Spanish giants Barcelona, was last called up to the Germany squad for the 1999 Confederations Cup in Mexico but did not play.

Germany's next match is a friendly against Georgia in Rostock on October 7 before a Euro 2008 qualifier against Slovakia in Bratislava four days later.

Goalkeeper Enke denies Werder Bremen's striker Miroslav Klose.
