Ukraine title goes into extra time
![]() Kiev are hoping to do the double after lifting the Ukrainian Cup last week. KIEV, Ukraine -- Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk, unable to settle the Ukrainian title in the final match of the season, will meet again on Sunday in the city of Kriviy Rih. The Professional Football League said a playoff would take place after Wednesday's championship showdown finished 2-2 leaving both teams on 75 points after 30 games. The match will again be placed under the control of English officials as it was on Wednesday, in an unprecedented move when Steve Bennett was in charge. Dynamo president Igor Surkis said the game posed a further headache for Ukraine coach Oleg Blokhin before the World Cup after news this week that AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko will be out for 25 days with a knee injury. "Only one person is upset at this turn of events and that is Oleg Blokhin," Surkis was quoted as saying. "The extra game means more pressure on his players." Dynamo and Shakhtar dominate Ukrainian football, the former having won the league in 2003 and 2004 and every year from 1993 to 2001. Shakhtar won the title in 2002 and 2005 and were runners-up for the two years in between.
