South Korea comfortably qualified for their sixth successive finals despite losing home and away to eventual Group A winners Saudi Arabia. However, only the most optimistic Korean will believe the country can emulate their experience of four years ago when, as the joint host nation, they swept to the last four on a wave of patriotism. Advocaat has a tough act to follow after replacing fellow-Dutchman Guus Hiddink and his cause has not been helped with the news that top scorer Dong-Gook Lee will miss the finals with a knee injury.
