Etheridge, partner have twins

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Melissa Etheridge and her partner, Tammy Lynn Michaels, are the new parents of twins, the couple announced Friday.

Michaels gave birth to a boy and girl Tuesday: son Miller Steven and daughter Johnnie Rose.

"Tammy and the babies are in excellent health," Etheridge said on her Web site. The babies were conceived using an anonymous donor from a sperm bank.

"The creation of life brings about immeasurable love, and pours hope into the future. The joy will help carry us through our upcoming sleepless nights," the couple said in a statement.

Etheridge, 45, and Michaels, 31, held a commitment ceremony in 2003. The Grammy-winning singer has two children from her relationship with former partner Julie Cypher: daughter Bailey Jean and son Beckett. Cypher had the children through artificial insemination using a sperm donation from rock legend David Crosby.

Etheridge was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, but is now cancer-free. She last released a greatest hits album titled "The Road Less Traveled."

Michaels starred on the 2005 NBC comedy "Committed" and has appeared on Showtime's "The L Word."

Nicolas Cage's house: $35 million

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Nicolas Cage is leaving Bel-Air.

The 42-year-old Oscar-winning actor has put his home in the tony community on the market for $35 million.

He bought the seven-bedroom, seven-bathroom house for $7 million eight years ago.

The 11,000-square-foot Tudor-style home sits on an acre just above Sunset Boulevard. It has a two-story entrance, a front-yard fountain, an Olympic-size swimming pool and a two-bedroom guesthouse.

Tom Jones owned the home for 20 years before Cage, and before that, it belonged to Dean Martin.

Cage won't be lacking for places to stay. He owns other homes in Southern California, and earlier this year bought a castle in Bavaria and a private island in the Bahamas, according to People magazine.

He won a best actor Oscar for "Leaving Las Vegas." His screen credits also include "The Wicker Man," "World Trade Center" and "Adaptation."

George Jones breaks wrist

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- Country singer George Jones broke his right wrist Friday and had to cancel three concerts scheduled over the weekend.

Jones, 75, was going into his producer's studio to sing on his daughter Georgette Jones' record when he struck the awning support over the front door, according to a statement from his record label, Bandit Records.

He fell down a couple of stairs and hit the cement walkway, breaking the fall with his right hand and fracturing his wrist.

Jones, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, was scheduled to leave Nashville a few hours later to perform in Murray, Kentucky, on Friday night. That show and two others this weekend in Cumming, Georgia, and Columbia, South Carolina, have been canceled.

He was treated at Baptist Hospital in Nashville and will undergo surgery Monday to make sure the wrist heals properly.

Jones' many hits include "He Stopped Loving Her Today," "The Grand Tour" and "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes." He has a new album coming out Tuesday: "Kickin' Out the Footlights ... Again," a duet project with Merle Haggard.
