EW: Our guilty pleasuresWith good shows starting up again, we stand up for bad onesBy Mike Slezak ![]() Pamela Anderson in "Stacked": One of EW's guilty pleasures. YOUR E-MAIL ALERTS(Entertainment Weekly) -- TV's midseason has arrived, and with it, a crop of impressive new and returning series, including "24," "The Sopranos," "The Shield," "The L Word," "Crumbs," and "The Unit." But for many TV fans, at least a few of those high-quality shows may go unseen -- if only because the DVR is already packed with, well, trash -- embarrassing little secrets, like hours of David Caruso fiddling with his sunglasses on "CSI: Miami," or Pamela Anderson calling attention to her décolletage on her sitcom "Stacked." Those are just a few of the small-screen pleasures that most people watch in secret -- at least until now, when a new year brings the chance to start over, to clean out the junk, to tune in the good stuff. Hey, wait a minute, what fun is that? Instead of abandoning all the mindless, second-string junk, why not own up to it instead? Yes, some TV fans who could tune in clever bits by Conan need to stand up and admit that they choose instead to fall asleep with Craig Ferguson. Others who could be watching "Friends" reruns need to confess that they're friends of "Isaac." And if it's wrong to waste away entire afternoons glued to MTV's "Making the Band," then some who have made a habit of it ought to stand up and be wrong in the open. Go ahead ... if you dare.
