Attorney makes favorite meal healthier

(CNN) -- Mark Rasch travels quite a bit in his job as a cyber-lawyer.
He's hoping that as a "New You Resolution" participant, he'll find ways to lose weight and eat healthier while he's not at home in Bethesda, Maryland.
His jam-packed flight schedules force him to rely on fast food.
"Breakfast is usually a butter McCheese," Rasch said.
When he's working from home, his diet isn't much better.
"If it's around and it's salty or sweet, it's fair game," the former federal prosecutor said.
Rasch is at risk for metabolic syndrome -- a dangerous combination of heart health risks -- so he has to cut back on salt, carbs and junk food while on the road.
The 47-year-old and his twin brother and fellow "New You Resolution" participant, Stuart, are hoping they'll be able to motivate each other to reach their goals and improve their lifestyles.
Here are Mark Rasch's goals for the "New You Resolution":
1. Lower blood pressure to target of 140 over 85.
2. Lower total cholesterol from 264 to less than 200.
3. Improve diet while traveling to help achieve target weight of 189 pounds.
February 14 update
Before starting the "New You Resolution," Rasch filled up on pancakes during his "last meal."
Cooking Light's Chef Billy put together a recipe for Rasch that would still allow him to indulge in one of his favorite breakfast meals. This recipe, though, is low in fat and full of fiber and complex carbs.
Chef Billy said those ingredients will keep Rasch "from being hungry traveling around or in [his] office in the morning."
February 7 update
Mark Rasch has been doing a bit better than his twin brother, Stuart, this week.
"I still get a little hungry around 10 or 11 at night, but now I try to eat more healthy snacks," Rasch said.
He also seems to be maintaining his willpower while on the road.
"They give you a free bagel with cream cheese, and I didn't eat it."
Rasch has dropped two pants sizes since the beginning of the "New You Resolution" and has one more to go by the end of the eight-week challenge.
January 31 update
Since he started working on his "new you," Rasch has been trying to change his high-fat ways, but he still needs to add more healthy calories earlier in the day, cut out late-night snacking and develop a flexible plan for eating on the road.
His nutritionist, Katherine Tallmadge, suggests that he continue to keep a food diary as a constant reminder of his calorie goals.
He has lost 11 pounds since the "New You Resolution" began.
January 24 update
Rasch has been working out five days a week with his trainer, alternating strength and cardio training.
But he's not sure it's going to help him lose much weight.
"I'm firmly convinced my problem's not my weight, it's my height," Rasch said.
January 17 update
When CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta asked Rasch what his "New You Resolution" goals were, the attorney replied, "My goals are that I succeed and that I do better than [my twin Stuart] does."
Rasch's competitive spirit helped him in his first week at the gym, where he was reunited with the trainer who whipped him into shape last year. Now he's back on the bandwagon, hopefully for good.
"The goal here is to really keep it up not just for eight weeks, but for a lifetime."
