JULY 7 BOMBINGSYOUR E-MAIL ALERTS(CNN) -- The mother of Germaine Lindsay, the youngest of the July 7 London bombers, is expressing doubt about her son's involvement in the attacks that killed 52 commuters and injured hundreds. Maryam McLeod told reporters on the island of Grenada that she is not convinced the he was involved. Meanwhile, in the UK, police confirmed an attempted arson attack at Lindsay's home west of London. McLeod, a Jamaican-born UK citizen, like her son, appeared at the news conference covered in traditional Islamic garb. "I don't have the proof that my son has done .... I don't even know if this is my son. His wife hasn't identified him, I haven't identified him," she said. "The pictures that you've seen on the television, those are stolen pictures. I haven't seen the picture to clarify that's my son, I do not even know that's my son." London police say Lindsay, 19, wore the explosive-laden backpack that blew up an Underground carriage leaving the busy King's Cross station, killing 25 commuters and himself in the most lethal of the blasts that day. "I am still in shock and know not how to grieve for my son, therefore I grieve first for the victims, the ones who are dead and the ones who are alive. I grieve for the mothers and fathers, for the individuals who are now possibly traumatized by the visions of death and horror," McLeod said. Lindsay was a convert to Islam who took the name Jamal. He was married with one son and had a brother and two sisters, his mother said. "I respected and admired him so very much. I last saw him on my visit to England in 2004. He was so mature, and he was so sincere and so loving," McLeod said. On Friday night police said that had made three arrests over an attempted arson attack near Lindsay's last home in Aylesbury, England. The three were arrested on suspicion of attempted arson with intent to endanger life, Thames Valley police reported in a statement. One of those held is a man aged 20 while the other two are both 17-year-old males, police said. All are local to the area around the market town of Aylesbury, 40 miles (60 km) northwest of London, police added. -- CNN's Phil Hirschkorn and Graham Jones contributed to this report.
