Kashmir minister killed at home
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSSRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir (CNN) -- Kashmir's junior education minister was killed after two attackers infiltrated his home in the high-security area of Srinagar, the capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said. Firing small arms and hurling grenades, the men who were dressed in police uniforms stormed the home of Dr. Gulam Nabi Lone on Tuesday morning. Also killed were two security personnel, including Lone's own bodyguard, and one of the attackers, police said. Five others were wounded -- four security forces and one civilian. The attack took place at about 9:45 a.m. (12 a.m. EDT) in Pulsibag, an area in Indian-controlled Kashmir where many senior officials live. Police have cordoned off the area and have brought reinforcements to the scene. Sporadic gunfire can be heard. The was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack -- Journalist Mukhtar Ahmad contributed to this story.
