(CNN) -- Australian pop star Kylie Minogue is on the road to a complete recovery after undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous lump from her breast, according to her surgeon.
The singer, who turns 37 on Saturday, is said to be in high spirits following Friday's operation and is resting at her parents' Melbourne home with her French actor boyfriend Olivier Martinez and sister Danni Minogue, by her side.
A statement released on the singer's Web site said that her surgeon Dr. Jenny Senior had declared the operation a success.
"The surgeon went on to note that she was confident that the cancer had been caught in time and that Kylie is now on the road to complete recovery," the statement said.
"Kylie is currently resting after the operation -- she has friends and family around her and her spirits are high."
No details of what follow-up treatment the singer will undertake have been released.
Meanwhile, Australian magazines have reported that Minogue was planning to start a family with Martinez once her Australian "Showgirl" tour had ended.
"We were going to start working on it after the tour was over," Martinez was quoted as saying in New Idea magazine.
"Now it will be put off; not forever -- we pray and hope -- but for the time being."
The Daily Telegraph newspaper in Sydney published a photo Monday of the singer wearing dark glasses and holding Martinez's hand as she left a Melbourne hospital.
On May 17, Minogue was forced to cancel her Australian tour just days before it was due to begin, after discovering she had breast cancer. (Full story)
