Former Mujahedeen leader Abdul Haq was killed by the Taliban in 2001.

LAHORE, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistani intelligence officials have arrested a man they said was involved in the killing of Abdul Haq, a pro-U.S. Afghan leader who was captured and killed by the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan in 2001.

An intelligence source told CNN Monday that the suspect, Siraj ul Haq, was detained late Sunday in Karachi along with another suspect who was not identified.

The source said Siraj ul Haq is not related to Abdul Haq.

In addition, witnesses said two suspected members of the al Qaeda terror network were arrested by Pakistani intelligence authorities Monday in the city of Mardan near the border with Afghanistan.

The witnesses said the two appeared to be Arabs.

The incident occurred as Gen. John Abizaid, the chief of the U.S. Central command, visited Pakistan for meetings with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. Government officials said the two discussed the ongoing situation in Afghanistan and along the border of Pakistan.
