Man arrested in Virginia triple slaying
Three men slain in 15 minutes Wednesday
RICHMOND, Virginia (CNN) -- A man sought in the shooting deaths of three men in 15 minutes Wednesday was arrested and bound for a Richmond jail Thursday night.
Police arrested Daniel Andrew Bowler, 26, without incident at a hotel in eastern Henrico County at about 8:15 p.m., Richmond police spokesman Capt. Mark Segal said.
Investigators have described Bowler as a "possible suspect" in the killings. He is believed to be the man seen in security camera pictures released by police.
Bowler has been charged with robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, police said.
Two of the men were shot in a strip mall; the third was killed a few miles away, said Segal.
The first victim, a black male, was robbed and then shot dead on a city street about 6:50 p.m., Richmond Police Department spokeswoman Cynthia Price said.
About 10 minutes later, at a nearby strip mall, a man of Middle Eastern descent and a man of Korean heritage were shot at a convenience store and a dry cleaning shop next door. The two stores were also robbed, she said.
Witnesses told police the suspect made angry racial statements before the last two victims were shot, authorities said.
But Police Chief Rodney Monroe backed away Thursday from the idea the shootings were racially motivated, saying detectives had learned the suspect harbored a grudge against the victims for more than a year.
"There's no doubt in my mind that he was deeply troubled by those relationships," he said.
