Bruges appoint Ceulemans as coach
YOUR E-MAIL ALERTSBRUGES, Belgium -- Belgian champions Bruges have named former international Jan Ceulemans as their new coach on a three-year contract. Ceulemans previously spent six seasons with rivals Westerlo, winning the domestic Cup in 2001. He takes over from Trond Sollied, who has left for Greek club Olympiakos. Ceulemans, 48, played for Bruges between 1978 and 1992, winning three championships (1980, 1988, 1990) and two Belgian Cups (1986, 1991). He was also voted Belgian Player of the Year three times. He also played a record 96 times for the Belgian national team, appearing in three World Cups, including captaining the team in 1986 to the semi-finals where they lost to Argentina.
