MILAN, Italy (Reuters) -- Serie A strugglers Brescia have appointed former Lecce and Fiorentina coach Alberto Cavasin as their new coach to replace the sacked Gianni De Biasi, the club said on Wednesday.
De Biasi's departure followed Brescia's 1-0 defeat at home to Udinese at the weekend, a result that left them 19th in the 20-team Serie A with 20 points from 23 matches.
"We have chosen the man with the right qualities to keep us up," said club president Gino Corioni.
"Things had soured between De Biasi and the team, there wasn't harmony. Even if everything seemed fine in the dressing room you didn't see harmony on the field," he added.
"I believe strongly that we can stay up -- there is still a very real chance of that," said Corioni.
