Entertainment Weekly's daily guide to notable shows:
8:30-9PM
LIVING WITH FRAN (The WB, TV-14-DL) While watching Fran Drescher's new sitcom about a fortysomething mother of two and her May-December romance with a beautiful-but-blank 26-year-old, my mind started to wander.
Young hot women hook up with young unattractive guys. And young hot women hook up with old unattractive guys. But in Hollywood, whenever a hottie in her 40s hooks up with a guy in his 20s -- on screen or off -- you can bet he won't be lacking in the looks department.
And so it goes in "Living With Fran." Six years removed from her last TV series gig, Drescher is still milking her "Nanny" mannerisms (bless that nasal whine), and her familiar persona carries the show.
Though one joke about irritable bowel syndrome would have been better left in the toilet, there are worse (and, OK, better) ways to spend 30 minutes on a Friday night. -- Jeremy Helligar
(A second episode airs afterward, guest-starring John Schneider and Marilu Henner as Fran's boyfriend's parents.)
EW Grade: B-
Best of the rest
8-8:30PM
SEASON FINALE: THE BERNIE MAC SHOW (Fox, TV-PG-L) Sure, Jordan can walk home without getting bullied. It's not like being the whiny, bespectacled nephew of a rich black man makes him a target.
8-8:30PM
8 SIMPLE RULES (ABC, TV-PG) Cate and Principal Gibb get caught not having sex. Hoo boy, I can't tell you how many times I've been there.
8-10PM
DIVINE SECRETS OF THE YA-YA SISTERHOOD (TNT, TV-PG-LV) No, that's cool. Some things should stay secret. Really.
8-10PM
THREE MEN AND A CHICK FLICK: BODY HEAT (WE, TV-14-DLSV) We'll let "Bachelor" Bob Guiney sell this one. Take it, Bob: "So, Kathleen Turner, then, is just a real hot Judge Judy." Go on with your curly-haired self.
9-9:30PM
REBA (The WB, TV-PG) Smart move: Your mom can't criticize your job if you let her guest-star. My mother's totally subbing for me the next time I'm on vaca.
9-10PM
JAG (CBS, TV-PG) Is a bombing survivor a pyro? Does JAG dig irony? OK, not so much.
9:30-10PM
ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT (Fox, TV-PG-DLV) One word: "Motherboy." You don't want to see it again. You have to. (Rerun)
10-10:30PM
DINNER FOR FIVE (IFC, TV-14-L) Tonight's dinner convo: comedic versus dramatic acting. I guess it'd be really bitchy to ask why Tracy Morgan is there.
10-10:59PM
LAW & ORDER: TRIAL BY JURY (NBC, TV-14) Occasionally, he who represents himself makes a fool of the prosecution.
