Entertainment Weekly's daily guide to notable shows:
8-9:30PM
DRAGONS: A FANTASY MADE REAL (Animal Planet, TV-G) For those of us who geeked out debating the science of the Enterprise's food replicators and "Back to the Future Part II's" hoverboards comes this special imagining dragons as real animals.
"Scientists" conduct a CGI-autopsy of a "dragon fossil" to learn how they flew, breathed fire and survived the meteor that killed the dinosaurs. So detailed is this reptilian "War of the Worlds" as it deconstructs the social order of dragons through the ages that narrator Patrick Stewart has to remind us after every commercial break that this isn't real.
Honestly, we're not so sure anymore.
EW Grade: A-
Best of the rest
7-9PM
I DO, THEY DON'T (ABC Family, TV-PG-S) Real-life couple Josie Bissett and Rob Estes play single parents who get hitched on a whim in Vegas. That, and the eight kids between them, suggests a general lack of impulse control.
8-9PM
EXPLORER: HOGZILLA (National Geographic Channel, TV-G) They claim they really want to promote "Search for the Ultimate Survivor," on right after this. But if that were true, they wouldn't have teased us with this beast of dubious existence, would they?
9-11PM
SPRING BREAK SHARK ATTACK (CBS, TV-PG-DL) Old people, your network has abandoned you with this teen screamer starring Ryan's ex from "The O.C." "The O.C."? Oh, it's a series about nice rich folks living in a magic world that's whiter than "Friends."
10-11PM
MAX IS BACK! CROSSING JORDAN (NBC, TV-14) Tonight, we'll finally have the answer: Did Ken Howard leave because he was as sick of his story line as the rest of us?
10-11:30PM
THE COMEDY CENTRAL ROAST OF JEFF FOXWORTHY (Comedy Central, TV-MA) No one can say why Anna Nicole Smith is there. But since she is, it's a good thing Dr. Phil's coming too.
10:02-11PM
BOSTON LEGAL (ABC) "Cheers" alum Shelley Long guests! She's such a pro. Literally, since she plays a businesswoman accused of prostitution.
11:30-11:45PM
ROBOT CHICKEN (Cartoon Network, TV-14) You were all, "Buffy's so hot! Buffy's so cool!" Where's Sarah Michelle Gellar's claymation creation? (Freddie Prinze Jr. doesn't count.)
