NEW YORK (AP) -- Katie Holmes says she's ecstatic about being pregnant -- even if she's not jumping on couches.

"It's a dream come true," the actress said on the syndicated entertainment news show "Access Hollywood" Thursday. "I feel great, (being pregnant) is so beautiful. I've never been so happy. ... I'm beaming."

Holmes, 26, and Tom Cruise, 43, became engaged in June. Her pregnancy was first reported earlier this month.

In preparation, Holmes said she and Cruise are putting together a baby room and that she's learning how to knit.

It would be Holmes' first child. Cruise has two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.

As for wedding plans, Holmes said, "We don't have a date just yet. There is so much excitement going on."

Cruise is currently shooting "Mission Impossible 3."

Lucas donates $1M to MLK memorial

WASHINGTON (AP) -- George Lucas has donated $1 million to build a memorial to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. on the National Mall, backers of the project announced.

"The ideals and principles for which Dr. King fought have never been forgotten and are as relevant today as they were 40 years ago," Lucas said Thursday, adding in a statement that a memorial ensures King's message will endure for future generations.

Other notable supporters of the project include former Secretary of State Colin Powell and Jack Valenti, former president of the Motion Picture Association of America.

More than $40 million has been raised for the memorial, with $100 million needed to finish the project, organizers said.

Congress authorized the memorial in 1996, and groundbreaking is scheduled for late next year on a four-acre site near the Lincoln Memorial, where King delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech on August 28, 1963.

'Creepshow' to be remade

LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) - "Creepshow," the 1982 horror anthology movie written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero, is getting the remake treatment from Warner Bros. Pictures.

Although in the original anthology the stories -- which were written in the 1950s EC Comics style -- were unconnected, the plan is to structure the new movie a la "Go," where stories will have linking characters and situations. A screenwriter has not yet been chosen for the project.

The original spawned two sequels, and the studio is viewing the remake as a way to kick-start a franchise. Warner Bros. is a division of Time Warner, as is CNN.

"Creepshow" finds itself in the hands of production companies with well-established horror credits: Vertigo Entertainment and OZ LA, which produced both the original versions and English-language remakes of "The Ring," "The Grudge" and "Dark Water." James Dudelson, the original rights holder, also will serve as a producer on the new version.

Fess Parker's toast to N.O.

(CNN) -- In his younger days, he was King of the Wild Frontier. Now Fess Parker, TV's onetime "Davy Crockett" and now a noted California winemaker, is offering a princely contribution to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

The Fess Parker Winery is donating $10,000 to the American Red Cross for the victims of the hurricane. The money represents a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the 2002 and 2003 vintages of the winery's Santa Barbara County "Big Easy Syrah."

"We feel fortunate to be able to do a little something for a community that has been so supportive of us in the past," Eli Parker, the winery's president and director of winemaking, said in a statement.

Parker recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Davy Crockett character's debut and the 15th anniversary of his winery. He sang his hit song, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett," at the Hollywood Bowl for Disneyland's golden anniversary earlier this year.

Information about Parker and the winery can be found at http://www.fessparker.com.
