Zadie Smith
Tom Wilkinson

(Entertainment Weekly) -- Hospitals, "Housewives," and eight other things we love this week:

1. "Madden NFL '06" Too scrawny to play football in school, the Must List must settle for the next best thing: opening giant cans of whup-ass with this great videogame.

2. "Bodies" Professional jealousies, cold-hearted cynicism, and incompetence: These are just a few of the themes explored in this dark and intense medical drama on BBC America.

3. Tom Wilkinson in "Separate Lies" Who better, really, to play the emotionally disengaged lawyer whose comfortable life is blown apart in this exceptional film drama?

4. "Extras" Take the geniuses behind "The Office," give them a killer concept (a brutally fickle film industry), and voila! -- you have HBO's next hit show.

5. "Everything Is Illuminated" A young man explores his family's dark past in this spry film adaptation of Jonathan Safran Foer's best-selling novel.

6. "On Beauty" by Zadie Smith The author of "White Teeth" uses the E.M. Forster classic "Howards End" as a mold into which she pours her own splendid novel: a present-day meditation on race, class, and aging relationships.

7. Franz Ferdinand's "Do You Want To" video In which the great Scots -- and their marvelously rousing single -- deflate the stuffy pretensions of a snooty art gallery.

8. "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" To ABC: Yes, we're grateful for "Dancing With the Stars," but summer is over -- and we're ready for new seasons of desert-island mystery and sleepy-suburb intrigue.

9. "One Red Dot" by David A. Carter A gorgeous pop-up book that's playful enough to tap your inner child and smart enough to tap your child's inner adult.

10. "Ben-Hur" The winner of 11 Academy Awards, this 1959 biblical epic (starring Charlton Heston) actually deserves this lavish four-DVD treatment.
