Name: Thekla Fischer

Age: 33

Hometown: New York, New York

Profession: Attorney

Issues: Fischer got married in the summer to a soldier, who then served in Iraq. Her husband is now home after rupturing his appendix. Fischer, an attorney, says she works late nights and overeats. She used to exercise, but in the past six months she has been pretty sedentary.

(CNN) -- A self-described "weekend warrior," Thekla Fischer's problems stem from the other five days of the week.

A 33-year-old attorney, Fischer hopes that getting in shape -- in large part, by improving her eating habits -- will help herself and her family. More specifically, she wants to be fit before she gets pregnant. (Journal)

Fischer said that she has some work to do before she starts that new chapter in her and her husband's lives.

Losing a few pounds and getting stronger, she said, will help ensure her baby is more healthy and happy. But she also has a selfish incentive: Being more fit now will make it easier to bounce back quickly, and fully, after her pregnancy. (E-mail Fischer)

Regularly clocking 60-hour workweeks, Fischer says she tends to put her own physical needs on the back burner.

That means too many late-night meals, just before bed. And like many people on the go, a candy bar and soda give her needed energy -- but not the nutrients she needs for optimal health.

Weekends are the only time Fischer says she has a chance to do a little something for herself. She does yoga every Sunday and loves the way it makes her feel.

Her yoga instructor says Fischer is in pretty good shape but could still stand to lose a few pounds while gaining extra strength.

By joining CNN's "New You Revolution," Fischer hopes to acquire the knowledge and drive to improve her fitness and eating habits.

But the program isn't all about her physical health.

Fischer says she wants to learn how to budget her time better, so she can enjoy a little more of her life as a newlywed, and hopefully, as a mother-to-be.
