(CNN) -- Jordanian security forces killed four suspected terrorists Tuesday in two separate incidents in Amman, a government security official told CNN.
In the first incident, security forces received a tip about the location of one suspect in an area of Amman called Marka.
When police arrived at the location early in the morning and asked the suspect to surrender, he refused and opened fire on police, the source said. Police fired back, killing the suspect, who was from a neighboring country, he added.
In the other incident, Jordanian security forces received another tip -- that suspected militants were hiding in the an-Hashemi area of Amman, a conservative, lower-class neighborhood, and were plotting "terrorist acts," the official said.
Security forces arrived at the house at 2:20 p.m., the official said, and asked the people inside to surrender. The official said the suspects refused and instead opened fire on the Jordanian security forces, who returned fire and eventually gained entry to the house.
