JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Israeli soldiers shot and killed four Palestinians in two skirmishes Saturday in the West Bank town of Nablus, according to Palestinian medics.

The Israeli army said its forces fired on Palestinian protesters who threw rocks, a bomb and a Molotov cocktail at Israeli soldiers operating in Nablus. An army spokesman said their conditions weren't clear, but Palestinian medical sources said three Palestinians, including a 15-year-old boy, were killed.

Later in the day, according to Palestinian sources, three Palestinians were wounded while marching in a funeral procession for those killed in the first incident. A fourth Palestinian wounded during the funeral procession was later pronounced clinically dead at a hospital, Palestinian medical sources said, adding that machines were keeping him alive.

The Israeli army said that when Palestinians stepped out of the crowd in the funeral march, soldiers fired at a Palestinian armed with a Molotov cocktail and another armed with a pistol.

Palestinian sources said the Palestinian casualties were not members of any armed militant group.

The Israeli Army says it has been conducting anti-terrorism operations in Nablus for almost two weeks, in an effort to rout out a terrorist infrastructure including wanted Palestinian militants.

Palestinian sources said none of the wanted Palestinian militants has been captured or killed during the operation.

CNN's Dawn Tamir and Sausan Ghosheh contributed to this report.
